Recently in More magazine (geared to women over 40—I read it at the gym), there was an article on those women over 40 who are athletic and muscular, including Holly Hunter, Madonna and, oddly, Sarah Jessica Parker (who seems too thin to be “muscular” in my book, but, whatever). It seems that women over 40 who follow strict diets and workout routines have more pronounced muscles for various hormonal/aging reasons. Thus Guy Ritchie’s now infamous criticism of his ex.
That is so NOT me.
But I do run—a lot–albeit not so fast (I also eat and drink a lot, to, you know, mitigate the too-muscular affect). And since I do run 40+ miles most weeks, I need a lot of music.
So, my plea to you all this week is: can you recommend any running music for my Ipod? Below is a sample of the sort of music I like. Let’s just say my tastes run to pop/rock, but I’m open to new sounds.

I found many websites that list running song ideas, though most tend not to be the poppy/rock mix you like. But, you saidy you were willing to try new tunes…
Now THIS website has it all, including bpm for each song (beats per minute)….
Running Music Mix
Thanks Lee and Maladies for the suggestions! I ahve a lot of new titles to listen to (and interestingly, I already have many songs suggested, especially 80s pop songs: who knew what a pivotal decade that was for me?).
Oooo, I would recommend Rihanna: Shut Up and Drive and SOS. Both great running songs, and a good mix of pop and rock. Also, a lot of Michael Jackson’s songs can be good…I actually like Thriller a lot, but Beat It and Billie Jean are good too.
Oh, great idea, and again, so obvious I didn’t THINK of it: Beat It and Billie Jean would be wonderful running songs!!
And I’ll check out the others on Itunes. Thank you Wiggs;-) You’ve make my run tomorrow just a little more varied!
