Obama Has Selected A Poet

This just in: President Elect Obama (well, to be more precise, the JCCIC made the decision) has chosen a poet for his inauguration, Elizabeth Alexander. For more information on her (I’m not familiar with her–yet!) visit poets.org  and to read some of her poems visit her website here.

  1. Interesting comment: I’m not sure that the field of poetry has a long line of “affirmative action” wannabees in it. Besides, Alexander was one of three finalists for the 2005 Pulitzer Prize in literature (for more visit here: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/inauguration-watch/2008/12/inaugural_poet_selected_elizab.html?hpid=topnews ).

And really, affirmative action president? You may wish to review the definition of affirmative action (try this site before you go to Wikipedia: http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/affirmative-action/). If Obama was an “affirmative action” choice, are you saying that the majority of Americans believe in affirmative action? If so, then why aren’t there more women CEOs or senators?
